What Marble Floor Polishing Can and Cannot Fix
Polishing can restore reflection and address light etching, but deep scratches, lippage, old coatings, and structural movement need other steps first.
What polishing does well
Professional polishing refines a clean, sound surface and rebuilds reflection with progressively finer abrasives and compounds. It is a strong fit for worn shine, light etching, and a floor that is already reasonably level.
The result should be an even finish that follows the natural pattern of the stone, not a bright spot in the center of a dull room.
When another step comes first
Deep scratches, lippage, yellowed wax, embedded dirt, and loose or moving tiles cannot be solved by polishing alone. Grinding, stripping, cleaning, or a separate repair may need to happen before the final polish.
A professional assessment keeps the scope honest and prevents a short-lived shine from hiding the reason the floor became dull.
