Can Professional Cleaning Remove Marble Stains?
Some stains sit on the surface, some penetrate the stone, and some marks are actually etching. The treatment depends on which one you have.
Identify the mark first
Organic spills, oil, rust, hard-water deposits, and embedded dirt each respond to different methods. A professional starts by considering the stain's color, location, age, depth, and what products have already been used.
A dull white spot may not be a stain at all. If acid changed the surface, cleaning cannot bring back the original sheen; honing or polishing is needed.
Why DIY spot treatment can backfire
Bleach, vinegar, abrasive powders, and improvised poultices can discolor the stone or spread a problem. Mechanical cleaning with stone-safe solutions gives more control over the surrounding finish.
The safest plan is to identify a small test area first, then match the treatment to the stone. After the stain is removed, sealing can help reduce future absorption.
